CAPTURED

This movie is going to be one of the best thing coming out in a while. It’s a movie about an icon of the L.E.S: Clayton Patterson. I met Clayton at Alife in 2000 when the wifee was working there. He used to chill out in the store and take pictures of everybody surrounding it...IRAK peeps, Reas, Espo, Models, Thugs, local kids, etc… I was amazed that he was at every single opening downtown. With his dope hand made chain stitch hat and his grey beard he would never miss a fight, an overdose or a group of cool cats posing. You have probably seen his cover and article for Mass Appeal (A chubby Spanish Kid in front of a tagged doors).I realized later that he was also the founder of The Outlaw Museum. Clayton is the coolest guy ever. He shot more than a half million photo of the L.E.S. He moved in New York in the late seventies and document the L.E.S. since… I got a message on myspace from this a nice dude named Ben who basically co-directed a movie about Clayton with another dude named Dan. Here is what they say on their myspace: Since 1979 Clayton Patterson has dedicated his life to documenting the final era of raw creativity and lawlessness in New York City’s Lower East Side, a neighborhood famed for art, music and revolutionary minds. Traversing the outside edge he’s recorded a dark and colorful society, from drag to hardcore, heroin, homelessness, political chaos and ultimately gentrification. His odyssey from voyeur to provocateur reveals that it can take losing everything you love to find your own significance.
