2 weeks ago while I was in Switzerland for some vacation with the family, I spent 3 days in the city of Fribourg to visit my friend Serges. Serges is the owner of Lowrider, the silk screen shop responsible for all my prints as well as client list including Lazy Dog Gallery, Parra, Steven Harrington, Razauno, Dan Funderburgh, the Swiss Museum of wall paper, etc… In his mid 30’s, mister Lowrider has been silk screening for the past 20 years!!! Yes! 20 years. Following the great tradition of swiss craftsmanship, he learnt in these 2 decades to screen directly on round stones, on huge 8 feet concrete walls for a primary school, on Japanese special paper for a museum, etc… Outside of printing for fine artists worldwide, Serges is a great illustrator, designer and he runs with his lovely wife Valérie 2 tee shirts lines, produce some fun road trip DVD and whatever they feels to create… Look out in 2009 for a Grotesk Lowrider show probably in Los Angeles.
