SORRY, BUT MY COUNTRY OF BIRTH IS FULL OF RACIST…
The 21st of October 2007 was a major election in my country of birth; Switzerland. The people had to vote to renew the Parliament. The result made me so angry and sad. In deed the Swiss people that once created the Red Cross, invented contemporary graphic design and used to tolerate an amazing mix of different culture and races choose to become a shame for the rest of the world. The SVP ( basically a racist populist party) won big time. Their campaign was based on fear of immigrants, youth violence and perdition of Swiss traditions. As if that was not enough, their campaign’s poster reminded me some Nazi shit from the 1940’s ... 3 white sheep sitting on the Swiss flag kickin’ out a black sheep… WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!! Coming from the French part of the country, I was hoping my fellow Swiss-French would have vote against those nasty people.... Not even!!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!! Until people wake the fuck up in Switzerland and realize how bad this move was, I am going to boycott my country of birth and so should you.
“Sicherheit Schaffen” basically means Bring the security back.
More from the Swiss AFP:
GENEVA (AFP) — Switzerland’s far-right Swiss People’s Party (SVP) shrugged off charges of racism to register the best election showing of any single party in nearly a century, preliminary results showed Monday.Traditional forces on the Swiss political landscape, the Socialists suffered what the Tages Anzeiger newspaper labelled a “historic thrashing,” while the business-friendly Radicals crumbled and the Greens surged to an influential position in parliament after Sunday’s vote. The SVP, already the country’s largest party, won 29 percent of the vote and 62 seats in the 200 seat lower house, the National Council, gaining seven seats over 2003, according to the Swiss statistical office. “It’s the strongest score of any party” since 1919, political scientist Hans Hirter told AFP.

Rough. Solidarity from an American who knows the feeling.
They are literally kicking the black sheep in the butt! Off the map !
That’s kind of unsubtle, amongst other things.
Pray to god that your health care stays intact. These pro-privatized industry fascists sound like they could royally fuck over that beautiful country.
I’ve observed that in many places, racism is gaining strength. The issue of “illegal immigration” in my city has provided a safe outlet for racists to vocalize their broad hatred of hispanics. People here aren’t concerned with illegal immigration, they’re pissed off that their mcdonalds order keeps getting messed up. Our longest-running DEMOCRAT state senator is one of the harshest racists around, using all sorts of gimmicks to win the racist vote. “Colgan will fight to make english the official state language.”
props to kimou for posing something that matters.
Yeah Kratom, a kid at my school was complaining about ‘mex-e-cans’ messing up his order at McDonalds. Funny you mentioned that.
I hate white people.
I painted with some kids from Mexico City the other day. They actually had passports and waited the time it takes to legally come to America. Immigration is an issue and just like the immigrants in the past, like mine who came from Germany legally, curent immigrants should wait for a passport. If they cant then they shouldnt be in this country. They cost you the tax payer tons of resources that could go towards fighting poverty for Americans, and use it to fight immigration, send non-citizens children to school, etc. Many Mexicans dont stay in america and send the money they make back to Mexico. If you would look at the issue for what is happening instead of just labeling people racist or thinking its a two sided coin, you might realize immigration is a problem.
Propoganda.
It would be one thing if American society was doing nothing but enabling “illegal” immigrants to rape our resources and markets. Illegal immigration surly is a topic of debate. But to ignore the fact that American markets depend greatly on the cheap labor of these individuals would be to ignore the crux of the debate itself. We’ve been casually ignoring the issue for decades becuase it benefits this nation’s economy to do so. And we all know money does more than talk. Why is the issue so hot now? Because politicians score points with particular voters by addressing the surface issue. It’s easy to get voters riled up about “illegal” people taking hard earned money out of your pocket while conveniently side stepping the more crucial understanding of how and why the problem has escalated to the point of people risking their lives in order to work. It’s also easy to forget about the “problem” once you’re in office when lobbyists that benefit from the cheap, immigrant labor inform you that they gave a lot of money to your campaign and it would be politically smart to sweep the issue under the rug for a little bit longer. If we actually do ever get to the point of shifting policy to address more than a “this is our country get the fuck out” mentality, be sure, we will find a new way to simulate cheap labor in other ways. The root of illegal immigratin from Latin American countries goes way deeper into economic issues involving NAFTA that i don’t really care to engage in on this forum. But the reality is that our tax dollars go to to way bigger piles of waste than medical care for non-citizens. If avaiable funds for citizen social programs is going to be the focus of your arguement I think we’d all do ourselves a service to be honest and realize that it’s not availabilty of funds but allocation of funds/resources. If there was no immigration problem, I’d wager propper funding would still struggle to find their way to noble ends (health care for those citizens that don’t have it, propper coverage for those that DO have health icoverage, living wages, affordable housing, schools.
Unfortunately racism gets tossed into the picture often, when it’s not warranted. I understand a particular political stance or more specifically a stand against illegal immigraton does not make one racist. But I also remain cautious, since historically hardline nationalistic views create firtile ground for superiority complexes. Us vs. them doesn’t usually strike me as the most progressive way to approach a problem that concerns BOTH us and them. I can agree there is a problem to be dealt with, but the easy “solutions” like a fucking fence (you gotta be kidding me) might cause us more porblems over time than the one we’re currently dealing with.
Aside from the stimulating tough problem solving intelectual debate. the irony of this whole situation makes me want to stab myself in the face anyway, as a metaphore for how dumb humans are.
p.s. i have no education on the specifics of the SVP party in Swiss-land, so for all I know these doods could live in the political spectrum from misunderstood populists to overt racist maniacs.
Thanks to Doctor B.Mackin!!!!
I wish I was speaking a better english to express myself deeper!

Isnt it the right of the people to decide who they see fit to run the country? If the election is based on a democtractic process then it only seems just. Immigration is a double edged sword and has created many problems in nations throughout the world. While it is often seen as a boom to the economy since the labor is cheap it also an issue when there is a culture clash and tensions rise becuase of loss of jobs to immigrants and differing cultural and political views. Im not educated in the politics of Switzerland so I don’t have a strong basis to argue with you.
