Here’s one of several pieces of art work I’ve created over time as an homage to Reggae Dancehall and in this case Digital B aka Bobby Digital(the Jamaican one)
Digital B is responsible for some of the best Dancehall productions and releases since the early nineties.
My love for reggae music and culture, comes to show the same way as other artist may be fascinated with
american pop icons like mickey mouse, simpsons and star wars.

A few days ago, I passed by the opening for fellow artist, fellow 12oz blogger and fellow human Todd James at Gallery V1 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I did a show with Todd 9 years ago at Houston Gallery in Seattle, and I can only say that he continues to lay it on thicker and brighter. Todd has always reflected on the absurdia of contemporary culture and issues, and now he is reminding you of the sickness of war, violence, ignorance, corruption, conflicts and poverty that sometimes lead to bold and desperate actions like piracy. All done with his humorous swagger that makes you wanna laugh, but then you realize while basking in the sun..wait..this shit is real..some places it aint no fun, even in the sun. The art work is dope.
The show at V1 also features work of Barry McGee aka Lydia Fong, but I didnt get any good shots to share.
The show is up until Sep 9th. For more info check V1 Gallery.

In a world where image is everything, the Danish-American visual artist is a self-made curator of vibrant, grassroots culture and unquestionable beauty. For over a decade, his use of avant-garde methods of photography and film, while capturing the layers of cultural nuance beneath the surface, has placed him in the rare category of a boundary-pushing pioneer. GS began his artistic journey studying fine art and Graffiti in Copenhagen, Denmark. At 16 he traded the cans for the camera and has since honed his craft, studying and capturing urban landscapes and manipulating them with a refined eye. In the early 90’s, this Parsons School of Design alumnus became a one-man camera wielding enterprise. His company JAMIL GS STUDIO and his newest venture NECTAR PRODUCTIONS, offer an inventive blend of media and culture, where everything from urban landscapes to high end street wear fashion to celebrity portraits (P.Diddy, Queen Latifah, Usher, Outkast, and the Wu-Tang Clan), find cohesion under GS’s singular eye. Other noteworthy clients include international music and lifestyle magazines: Rolling Stone, Vibe, King, Complex, and the New York Times Magazine. Furthermore, Jamil GS has directed and shot commissioned art pieces, commercial TV spots, documentary short films, music videos, in addition to successful ad-campaigns for Nike, New-Era, Levi’s, Budweiser, Supreme, several major record labels and The Jamaican Touristboard. His now collectible GS-STICKUPS calendars, a blend of beautiful seductress’ set against captivating backdrops, have become valuable collector’s items for connoisseurs around the globe. GS’s work is permanently displayed in galleries and museums from London to Paris to Japan. A resident of New York City since 1990, GS has managed to solidify himself as one of the premier director and photographers of our time.
