Featuring Kim Matulova.
Kim is one of those multi talented down town fly girls, she acts, writes, raps, skates, models and creates dope jewelry.
You might recognize her from the movie “Black and White” with Method Man and Power from WU TANG or you might recognize
her recently from Supreme. I first worked with her about 10 years ago and continue to find inspiration doing so. These shots are some ruff out takes from my “Outta Darkness” series(In progress). Kim is also acting in the forth coming “A night at the Opera” film by Nemo Librizzi.

One of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite QJ albums. I was raised on this ish so i
raided it from my moms collection and still got the vinyl. My pops Sahib Shihab used to play
baritone sax with Quincy back in the 60’s
And then we got another smoking classic..sampling and twanging the intro from Body heat..smoove.

Vashtie was one of the sweetest and best assistants I ever had, she has since graduated to becoming a successful
video director, clothing designer and is now about to become a movie star. I am very proud of this one.
Here she is on the set at a Babtist church in Bed Sty, on the shooting of “A night at the opera” where she is being
courted by Actor/Director Nemo Librizzi.

When I say Uptown I mean Uuuuptown Dyckman and 205th Street. Images featured are on the set of “A night at the Opera”
and it is the first full length feature from my brother Nemo Librizzi. The films executive producer happens to be Jim Jarmusch,
so you know it is going to be big in the art house. I cant give away the plot, but I can tell you its a comedy, and it is stacked
with a handful of fine ladies, many of them my friends, and a gang of charismatic New York characters both in front and
behind the scenes. Here’s a first view from one of the days as I passed by the set.

Tarrus Riley is bringing the truth. Here at a show in NYC last week, with Dean Fraser and the Blak Soil band, the vibe was right.
Note that the Gator is the top element in the Jamaican coat of arms. Funny that it should reach his chest all the way from France via Matt Goias
and Lacoste in NY. Tarrus has an upcoming show at B.B. Kings in NY on the 25th this month. Get some musical oxygen, highly recommended.

B.B.B. ...BULL BAY BOWL…KINGSTON….JAMNESIA…
To most people, skating in Jamaica sounds as bizarre as the ice bobsled team, but it is in full effect and growing..fast.
The kids are embracing it and showing some serious effort. I wouldnt be surprised to find that just as Jamaica harbors the worlds fastest runner,
if nurtured, there may be some serious skate talent in Jamaica. Im curious to see who will be the smartest brand to pick up on this opportunity first.
All the kids need is gear and support in return for an evolution of the sport. These kids go hard.

The year was 2002, New York was still licking the wounds from 911, the energy was low and everyone seemed to only focus on
the bad scht.
As an artist I maintained the ability to see the beauty in things, in particular the fact that New York is the most photogenic
city in the world, with or without the Twin towers. New York also prides it self self with the most beautiful women in the world, and
it was my duty to remind and share this fact with the world, so the outcome was an homage to my beloved city, it’s women and the 5 boro’s.
The calendar was published by sneaker freakers Premium Goods and distributed by Neverstop.

Being a product of DOPE iconic imagery of the 70’s in the likes of Playboy, James Bond chica’s, Heavy Metal Comics and Pirelli Calendars,
it was my duty to bring some of that sexy back and infuse it with elements and energies that represented our time.
While others were concerned with the millennium bug, I was concerned with dropping some millennium bombs.
The result was the GS STICKUPS 2OOO calendar. This was a collaborative effort and came together with the
help of Fumihiro “Charlie” Hayashi from Dune Magazine and Hysteric Glamour. The calendar was printed and hand
assembled in Japan and designed by Visionaire and V magazines art director Greg Foley. Being heavily inspired by record
covers, it was sized to 12 x 12 inches like a sleeve, then printed on extra heavy durable children’s book card stock.
The images are out takes from various shoots in Brooklyn, L.A., Miami, Jamaica and Paris.

In honor of Yves Saint Laurent’s forty years of creating, IFFP(international festival of fashion Photography) put together a
powerful book and exhibition that traveled world wide.
Recognizing young talent, they invited me to contribute by shooting an original YSL vintage piece, along side 69 heavy hitting
photographers, including some of my idols; Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, David Bailey, Jean Paul Sieff, Jean Paul Goode,
Bettina Rheims, Nick Knight, Peter Lindbergh and Jurgen Teller. Being the early stages of photoshop, I had a failed my attempt
at creating the ill collage, so looking for an improved solution I crossed paths with Kaws, who gladly accepted the challenge.
Here’s what we came up with. I shot the model Teresa Lourenco in studio and Kaws did his thing.
Since all good things come full circle, maybe its time to do it again..who knows..what do you say B.

Melida Prado, and a few models who’s names escapes me. The shoot was styled by Emil Wilbekin who has since
eloquently swerved his way through the magazine publishing world holding one top position after another. He is
currently the editor in chief of Giant magazine. This was also the day we lost a great legend, it was the day Biggie
got gunned down coming from the Vibe Awards..March 9th 1997.
The Vibe editing in 97’ was a bit PG, so here are some out takes I am happy to published now.

Since I was working outta town this weekend so I couldnt make the HH day in person, instead i am offering my respect from the
web angle. Harold and i were’nt tight tight, we knew each other from the L.E.S. and got to work together a few times
(like in these flix from the “Love Pool” shoot in L.A.) and we partied hard many more.
One thing I remember Harold for, besides his cool ass dudeness and talent as a smooth skater, was his ability to
help people relax and enjoy the present moment.
He would have jokes for days, pulling them out the hat right then and there forcing you to acknowledge the moment.
He knew how to start a party anytime anywhere, passing the torch of life that was given to him. Many good memories left behind.
Peace to the Double H.

In a world where image is everything, the Danish-American visual artist is a self-made curator of vibrant, grassroots culture and unquestionable beauty. For over a decade, his use of avant-garde methods of photography and film, while capturing the layers of cultural nuance beneath the surface, has placed him in the rare category of a boundary-pushing pioneer. GS began his artistic journey studying fine art and Graffiti in Copenhagen, Denmark. At 16 he traded the cans for the camera and has since honed his craft, studying and capturing urban landscapes and manipulating them with a refined eye. In the early 90’s, this Parsons School of Design alumnus became a one-man camera wielding enterprise. His company JAMIL GS STUDIO and his newest venture NECTAR PRODUCTIONS, offer an inventive blend of media and culture, where everything from urban landscapes to high end street wear fashion to celebrity portraits (P.Diddy, Queen Latifah, Usher, Outkast, and the Wu-Tang Clan), find cohesion under GS’s singular eye. Other noteworthy clients include international music and lifestyle magazines: Rolling Stone, Vibe, King, Complex, and the New York Times Magazine. Furthermore, Jamil GS has directed and shot commissioned art pieces, commercial TV spots, documentary short films, music videos, in addition to successful ad-campaigns for Nike, New-Era, Levi’s, Budweiser, Supreme, several major record labels and The Jamaican Touristboard. His now collectible GS-STICKUPS calendars, a blend of beautiful seductress’ set against captivating backdrops, have become valuable collector’s items for connoisseurs around the globe. GS’s work is permanently displayed in galleries and museums from London to Paris to Japan. A resident of New York City since 1990, GS has managed to solidify himself as one of the premier director and photographers of our time.
