Being from Queens, we never really paid attention to what those cats over the Koskiusko bridge were doing..The Brooklyn we knew was East New York, Bed Sty and Brownsville…Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bay Ridge were like going to Staten Island..So one day I’m at a club, Club USA and i meet this girl from Bay Ridge..We start dating…I start venturing…Driving on the BQE was like a mosaic of different cultures and lifestyles…First stop Greenpoint…Every cat that was big at the time i was growing up had something in Greenpoint, from WEB MQUE JA VFR DASH SP KR GHOST…Then off to Williamsburg..I noticed lots of gang stuff, stuff I’d never seen before..Nietas, Latin Kings..A lot of scribbles on the wall..Sunset park had its share of throwups and local kid action..I remember RN OPIE and MN as having rooftops locked down in like 91..But, then I get to Bay Ridge…And these guys named the Lordz of Brooklyn were “the guys”.. I knew of the KHB crew and the Cropsey Ave boys but everywhere I went, all I heard about was the Lordz of Brooklyn…These guys are the next big thing…Fuck gang shit, these guys are going to be big…They know House of Pain..I was so amped that I finally ventured to Brooklyn, to date a chick, and now I would become part of something big, just for being there…It’s like when New Orleans, no matter where u are, claims that LIL WAYNE lived in their town…There’s a sort of pride there..Time goes by and The Lordz popped up here and there but never made it to the big show…I mean, the Lordz made it, but made it just for the moment..I was kind of upset…Upset that some dudes from 10 miles away would probably go back to their day jobs when the partying was over…I ended up working in television at MTV VH1 ABC ESPN and a slew of other places…Ive seen them all come and go…Ive produced the biggest hits of the times on our shows, and a month later seen them lose all of their money and become partners in a get rich quick scheme and end up locked away for 10 years..Watching the story of the LORDZ, really gave me an insight in to which I had never seen before…FUSE produced an amazing “doc” and captured every dynamic to your story…No matter what the outcome of the future of the LORDZ, your diary is written in stone as an amazing real life struggle of one man and his crew..I love the new sound..  Hopefully, with all this crap out in the music industry, this will be the chance for you guys to show the talent, drive and passion you’ve set forth with your story…

Sorry it was a long post, but the story inspired me to write my side…Peace to the Lordz…

At the foot of the Verrazano Bridge lies Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, home to the Lordz of Brooklyn and a world of co-existing extremes: wealth, poverty, love, hate, delight, doom, suburbia, city, diversity, sameness. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, Lordz founder Mike “Mr. Kaves” McLeer discovered his turf wasn¹t always easy to navigate. But he understood his neighborhood and its contrasts, and he used that insight to help the Lordz find success.
