Operator, get me KLondike5-555!!!

Today’s doodling and reminiscing…
Dondi’s brother Mike (a hell of a nice guy) asked me to do something in this black book, which he wants to keep only black and white work. So I chose an old Dondi alias; Mr. White and one of my many past names; Label61. I had actually come up with that name in order to remember my old ph. # 522-3561. But then I’m old enough to remember when phone numbers had names like KLondike5-5555. My first # was MAine5-7634; this actually told you what neighborhood you were calling. My area of Downtown Brooklyn was all 625- numbers (of course, you didn’t need an area code, all of the five boroughs were still 212 at that time) and you could pinpoint within a several block radius where someone lived by their phone number. What all that has to do with this piece, I’m not sure…
