On a recent trip to Panama I was impressed by the tricked out way the city buses are painted and customized. Buses in this Latin American city are the major means of transportation in Panama City and the owners of the buses and drivers take great pride in the look of the vehicle. Airbrush art is alive and well out there and I was lucky enough to make it to a major bus depot to photograph a great amount of the buses. Here are just a few.

When I went to panama, I never got a chance to ride in one of those buses. However, I did see them everywhere in Panama City. I spent most of my time in Chiriqui, because majority of my family live there. Chiriqui hardly had any buses running.Ket did you see the Panama Canal? It is amazing how the canal works.

Cool Ket
I saw alot airbrushed buses in Thailand too. Most memorable one was when stepping out of a bar a bus rolled pass with an old Mode 2 charecter on it (featured in Spraycan art) had to rub my eyes thought I was tripping… smile

The Panama Canal was also amazing. Airbrush art is alive and well in Latin America. I’ll try and post some more shots soon.

COOL - when I saw the title PANAMA BUS ART I wondered if it was buses from PANAMA or old tags from KID PANAMA 191 [who was a great airbrusher]. These buses look great. I like art, not advertising. Imagine a city that is concerned that their residents enjoy their ride !

WOW! Talk about rollin thunder! Interestingly enough in Asia they trick out the buses too. Imagine if these were done illegally! Bombing on another level….

aqui en panama los buses son galerias de arte en movimiento,,,,, las personas que se dedican a decorarlos son unos verdaderos artistas, le dan vida y personalidad a cada bus.

Hey I am trying to find out more info. on Kid Panama. In 1982 he attended my high school for a few days. He was in my art class. He came up to me and asked me what colors I liked. I answered a few colors and the next day he came up to me in class and gave me a piece of art he had made with my name in it. He was gone the next day. HE never returned and I never heard anything about him again. I always wondered what happened to him and who he was. Today when I came across the painting/graffiti I decided to look online.  I am wondering if the Kid Panama on your site is the same graffiti artist that made my artwork. Anyone with info for me please email me at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) Thanks and love this site

Ket grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.
