La Jetee, (1962) is a 28-minute black and white science fiction film by Chris Marker. Constructed almost entirely from still photos, La Jetee tells the story of a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel.
It’s very French, existential, and a classic. Well done, a good science fiction story, and uses an interesting technique to tell the story. There is a surprise ending.
La Jetee is the inspiration for Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film “12 Monkeys.”
There is a book version available here.
Melbourne had a more urban feel than Sydney. Sydney felt very beachy and sunny, Melbourne had a hustle and bustle thing going on. Melbourne reminded me a lot of San Francisco, both the weather and the size of the city. There was a lot of graffiti everywhere, and a lot of little alleyways similar to Barcelona.
Everyone is really nice, the food is good, and things are pretty chill. Much more of a walking city, easy to get lost, but being lost isn’t an issue.
I had a show at Don’t Come a gallery and shop in Melbourne, really cool people. Thanks Misha and Tim.
Also thanks to the guys at Everfresh Studios, and also to Celeste, Penny, Simone, Olivia, and Hugo for all their help.

Back from Australia aka OZ, and for those of you who don’t know, (I didn’t) They pronounce Aussie, Ozzy.
Flew into Sydney first. Sat next to an obese person, very tight seating, at first it was annoying and I was bummed, but the flight was full so there was nothing to be done, LA - Sydney, 15 hours! We touched the whole time. Once I put my mind to it, it was fine, kind of like central booking. That’s just life.
I painted the entrance to the brand new Redbull offices in Sydney as part of the opening of the “No Comply” show.
Everyone in Sydney was super, super cool. Redbull people were mad cool and everything went real smooth.
More “No Comply” photos here.
I’d never been to Australia before this trip, I thought it would be culturally closer to Britan, but it reminded me a lot of California. Good food, open minded people, chill vibe.
Still working.
The over-spray set off the fire alarms, this dude was real cool, no worries.
Opening night on the deck outside.

Tamarama Bay. The beach in Sydney was absolutely amazing, these pictures do not do it justice.
The water was crystal clear with just the right amount of waves to keep it interesting. Sharks too, but no worries, they’ll get the surfers first.
Tamarama Bay, so beautiful.
Alex, Todd, Jonas. Proper Aussies.
I’ve been so busy I can’t keep up. I just got back from Australia and want to post flicks from the trip, but have been totally swamped with work that I have not had the time to edit and retouch the photos.
Australia was really cool, good times all around, really nice people. I hope to post more photos from the trip and the shows soon.
Alex from Niceproduce.com was the trip/show/event organizer and my most gracious host.
We did a Tee for both “No Comply” a show organized by Alex featuring different artists from around the world which opened in Sydney, and for the show at Don’t Come gallery in Melbourne.
I will post more flicks soon, hopefully this weekend.
The image on the shirt is also on the show invite and is a detail of a painting.
Get it here while supplies last.
