El Castillo De Jagua is an OG Dominican spot in the Les, NYC. The LES has changed so much (like most of NYC) in the past few years, I don’t know if they own the building or what, but El Castillo has held it down. Some people might say, “Yo, these spots are all the same.” Not true. While many do share a common menu, El Castillo is one of the best Dominican rice and beans type spots in the city. Pollo al Horno, Pernil, Guisado, Chuletas. Don’t forget to get a Presidente!
Newjacks, go to “The Hat”, if you’re up on the real deal, go to El Castillo. On weekends the place is packed with families, adding to it’s authenticity and atmosphere.
Not the best photo, and it does lack in decor, but it delivers good, cheap food.
113 Rivington St @ Essex, next to the hotel.
