La Jetee, (1962) is a 28-minute black and white science fiction film by Chris Marker. Constructed almost entirely from still photos, La Jetee tells the story of a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel.
It’s very French, existential, and a classic. Well done, a good science fiction story, and uses an interesting technique to tell the story. There is a surprise ending.
La Jetee is the inspiration for Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film “12 Monkeys.”
There is a book version available here.
