2012 MONTANA COLORS X MTN-WORLD CALENDAR

One year, twelve months, 365 days. Forms and colors intermix in the heads of thousands of writers and artists throughout the world. From the mind to paper, and from paper to the wall. It’s as simple, and complicated, as that.

Murals of all shapes and sizes, never big enough to capture so much imagination, never big enough for the text representations of our voices, your voices, on the street.

Metropolises, cities, towns, islands, nature, factories, sewers, the underground, big streets… Graffiti writers, graffiti artists, illustrators, painters, all squaring up to face the canvas, or a freshly painted wall, or metal, or wood, or the dirty and gray concrete… or alongside their crew, their collective, their team, all working towards a common objective; for the glory, and for the satisfaction of sitting back and contemplating a job well done.

These are all moments. And what we have to show you is 12 of these moments from MTN-WORLD from 2011. We want to share them with you, and store them in this document, while we await a new year, charged with new sensations.

Barcelona, 2011

‘FUCKING HELL JOHN’ VIDEO

This article was posted by Los Montana 3 months, 1 week, 3 days, 2 hours, 1 minute ago.

The wall of an old abandoned warehouse was the canvas which Sunk chose to paint for the most recent gathering of Fucking Hell John, this July at Den Bosch -a.k.a. Damn Balls- in Amsterdam (Holland).

The idea was that each writer would paint large 10 meter pieces on the almost 4 meter high wall so that they could be seen from the other side of the river.

Unfortunately, everyone couldn’t sync their diaries, and the wall ended up being painted over two consecutive weekends. With uncharacteristically bad weather for that time of the year, Flai and Musa (Barcelona), and Cater and Sunk (Holland) started the wall, and then Dilk (Nottingham, UK), accompanied by a few friends from the ‘Hotsnakes’ (Pims and Neas), finished it off.

Friends, Pim and Leon, filmed the process on the first weekend. The final result: 250 m2 of color and style. Here’s the video and some photos.
