With routes in the graffiti area, Escif develops a personal discourse, reflecting from the margins of this discipline. His language navigates between the critical and the poetic, and takes form within the paintings and drawings that appear on the walls of Valencia city, where he currently resides. His unmistakable work and style bought him appearances in various international publications, such as the recently released ”Beyond the Street. 100 leading figures on Urbanart”.

After traveling the world with urban interventions and expositions in galleries such as Luis Adelantado (Valencia and Miami), Carmichael Gallery (Los Angeles), and POW (London), Escif now presents an exposition in Montana Gallery Barcelona which draws from a visceral position on the walls, as well as his usage as a tool the power with which he designs, controls, and manipulates the space in the cities.

Contra la Pared (Against the Wall) insists on the necessity to open doors, construct paths, create freely accessible spaces, and invent bridges and relations, both formal and conceptual; and pull down the walls of the city, but above all those that limit the interiors of our own minds, our dreams, and our illusions. Let’s lead with intuition and improvisation, escape logic and lineal reasoning, break established order so as to create new order, question the absolutes and surprise ourselves with the magic of error. Let’s face up to contradictions like transit spaces, validate the process with the result, and banish the arrogance of conclusions and coordinates.

Esher and his colleagues have been passionately pushing on ahead with Streetfiles.org, one of the most powerful graffiti webzines in Europe.

A few months ago we received this display of appreciation for our support in maintaining their space:

These guys started their venture two years ago, with 15,000 photos up on their server, and now boast a number of photos in the 300,000s! And the amount of traffic moving through their network is crazy. You can take a look at some figures by clicking here.

We’re heading for a million uploads dudes!

Here you have a couple of videos summing up what went down at the SERES QUERIDOS (LOVED ONES) event, sponsored by Montana Colors, which has lead four muralists and illustrators as well-known as El Niño de las Pinturas (The Child of Painting), El MacJorge Rodríguez Gerada and Atma, to intervene in the public spaces of Monterrey city (Mexico) during several weeks, and mingle with other local names such as Sanez or Buster.

With the previous IAM project, Monterrey has established itself as one of the fashionable cities for the promotion and spread of ‘street art’. This isn’t just demonstrated in the support of the institutions, with an inauguration and previous exposition in the MARCO (Monterrey Museum of Contemporary Art), but also in the city’s citizens and neighbors.

Blake DVS was doing some nice work shops around the Gaza strip earlier this year with a good mix of artists out of London, UK. We are all pretty much familiar with whats going down with the oppression forced upon Palistine by Isreal…so we feel a strong dedication to try and offer some sort of escape from the daily suffering that the young ones experience in this region. Blake sent us a few photos of his stay out there, representing hard for Montana Colors...much love to our distributer in Tel-Aviv Capzoola for taking on such a big roll at this event. Thanks to you Blake…some time small gestures add up so much and have such an impact on us it feels like the powers above can´t say nuthin´!

Montana Colors is the first and only Graffiti independent company, born in 1994 and keeping going on today, even after the adversities suffered thru the years.
Everything started in Barcelona, in 1994, when, mixing up Jordi & Miquel’s chemist knowledge and all the experience offered by Kapi & Moockie, Montana Colors rose with the first spray can for Graffiti Writers, a 200ml can in 60 colors. The characteristics were the ones which every writer dreamed about, clean lines, good pressure, excellent coverage and a very affordable price.
After that, we kept growing together with Graffiti, developing new technologies, from Hardcore to Alien and MTN 94
15 years later, the target is still the same, working hard for Graffiti writers’ needs, offering top quality paint, complete range of products and colors, the best price possible and a full respect for people and environment.
In our 15th Anniversary, it makes us so glad to join 12oz Prophet with all of you!
Love from Barcelona!
