I had to take my son to share in the single most important moment of my life next to his birth. This the day after what would have been my Moms 60th bday, a life long Democrat who would have been over the moon about this moment. For all my friends and fellow voters who chose to chart a new course not just for ourselves but our children...thank you.

Mare 139 - Cut & Paste judge - 55DSL Logo ReMix
I was asked to participate as a judge for a Cut & Paste competition - http://logoremix.55dsl.com/ - I would invite you all to participate, just follow the link.
55DSL knows life moves pretty fast. That’s why their motto is to “live at least 55 seconds per day”—to shake things up on a regular basis and always get in on a piece of the action. It’s what they’ve been doing, as a company and as a streetwear brand, since 1984.
And they’re at it again this year, partnering with Cut&Paste to present the 55DSL Logo Remix. The Logo Remix challenges graphic designers, illustrators, and typographers, as well as all-around creative types, to take the iconic 55DSL Shield logo and spin it into a remix that reflects 55DSL’s culture and spirit, its origins and its future.
The Grand Prize–winning design, to be featured in a T-shirt design for the 2010 Spring/Summer collection, will successfully reinterpret the 55DSL Shield logo and represent 55DSL’s identity as an experimental, avant-garde streetwear brand (which first launched as a spin-off of Diesel), while considering the art, urban culture, extreme sports, and music influences that have always been at the heart of the label’s fun-loving, nonconformist attitude.
The Grand Prize winner of the 55DSL Logo Remix will receive 1,055€ in addition to seeing his/her logo design produced by 55DSL. During the contest period, all designs submitted for the Logo Remix will be showcased in Cut&Paste’s online gallery for public viewing, commenting, and voting. The People’s Choice Prize, a specially created goodie bag of 55DSL limited editions, will be awarded to the design that receives the most votes online. Both winners will be featured in the online gallery, which will be permanently available as part of Cut&Paste’s online collection of work.
To learn more about the brand, visit 55DSL.com.

Lazarides Gallery is proud to present new work from Parisian photographer
JR. Huge vistas around the world adorned with JR’s challenging images are
now his trademark, and this double gallery show will inspire new large-scale
street works.
The shows at Lazarides Greek Street and Charing Cross will be linked by a
street work inspired by JR’s time spent in Rio de Janeiro, where he worked on
his project, 28 Millimetres: WOMEN. In the favelas he met women for whom
crime, violent loss of loved ones and arbitrary repression are part of everyday
life. His response was to paste images of their eyes onto the buildings of
Providencia, creating an arresting image that was seen around the world, and
fuelled JR’s ongoing campaign to draw attention to things that go unnoticed. In
Soho JR will create the first audioguide to be taken out of the museum and into
the street, readapting the concept for a larger public. Under each image will be
a freephone number, which the public can call to hear each woman’s story.
