Incredible performance by Ray Charles along with his close friend Willi Nelson and Leon Russell. A Song for You is a classic and Ray drills in. It seems like a tribute to Willi Nelson, they go way back together in music and life. Thanks for YouTube I woulda never seen this myself.

My sentiments and heart felt condolences to the Bell Family and ‘Mother Justice’, both who’ll carry the wounds for life.

1996 OG Style Battle online- Mare139 vs The World
In 1996 I initiated an online style battle with the writing community at large in order to open up the forum to the evolution of style writing. It was cool and some really hot pieces were entered- http://www.graffiti.org/battle

Just when you thought good soul music was history...history came back to reclaim it. I just heard a live performance by Chris Pierce on KCRW.COM and it was amazing,
his vocals are reminicent of Otis, Nat and a few others. Peep out his spaces in space- http://www.myspace.com/chrispierce and http://www.chrispierce.com. enjoy. Cop some of his tunes- http://www.novatunes.com/

In 1995 I joined Erni to bomb the set on a feature film named ‘Money Train’ it starred Jennifer Lopez, Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. We hit up about 1 mile long tunnel set built in on the downtown Los Angeles rails. We both hit up as many old school writers as possible on both sides of the’ layup’. Not much of it made it to the final cut but I came off a few times. Get the DVD.

Books/Film- We Come at Night 2006
In August of 2006 I took part in a project which I feel is one of the more important Graffiti and Street Art related events in the last decade. The outsides project was completely illegal yet it was a corporate sponsored venture. It was impressive on so many levels, with a crew of artists arriving from all over the globe, we all set out to confront the current public and creative debate of what is legitimate art and at what point do you sell out or is it selling out or just ‘corporate bombing’ as I coined it years ago. We have evolved it into a culture that still relies on the public if not ourselves to critic and observe our work but what does it mean when you deliberately do it with big bucks behind you? Where do Brand ‘YOU and Brand ‘Them’ meet to get the exposure and execution desired? This project brought up a lot of heated debate and in the end was successful at provoking us and the Public to discuss the current strategies of contemporary Graffiti artists and street artists and Brand corporations, in this case Red Bull.
I placed a large scale sculpture illegally in a public park http://outsides.de/artist/Mare-139.html it turned out to get a really good reception until the city caught wind and planned to remove it, but when they returned in the morning it was gone! Vanished. Where did it go???

Books- BackJumps Live 3 Book 2
I just recieved this in the mail and it is the public release of the whole exhibiton, book 1 was more of a artist intro catalog, this book is that plus the whole of the show. Really fresh, well made and laid out beautifully. Form Here to Fame rocked it. This was an amazing show and very important in terms of the public and creative discourse going on about graffiti and street art.
