This is my final post on 12oz as I am retracting and taking stock on personal and creative matters. It been a pleasure posting for Allen and the crew of peers that share this space which has afforded us the opportunity to showcase our works, politics, interests and the works of our peer group. In this regard 12oz is incredibly successful as I have learned about so many new people and oddities along the way. As someone who was at the forefront of the web and interactive medium back in the beginning of the internet I was always optimistic that my peer group would ultimately have a strong voice and presence with this medium and that we would harness it to introduce new ideas and uncover histories relevant to us. What the crew on 12oz does is a realization of what Kel and I had once hoped for but it has done it and then some. This platform must also continue to engage more in terms of dialogue, beyond the pictures and videos and just graff, we should encourage more discourse that has substance and maturity in order to enlighten and provoke others to take part on what will ultimately influence many.

This is not just a graffiti writers forum, I dont even consider myself that in reflection to my history, we are beyond that and I hope that my postings have shown that its not just myself but many among you who are at an age where we are all well integrated into the larger picture of life around us, we are no longer a secular group on the fringe or underground, we aspire to greater heights and interests so if we can use this platform to exercise that, lets. We not only impact the world around us, as seen by Bates, we also bring it home, we share these intimate travels and painful memories as Psycho does on his blog and with the addition of newer bloggers I expect to see and read great things.

I want to big up- Allen for the opportunity and his personal sacrifices for 12oz. Also those friends across the globe who have shared their work and allowed me to bring it to others. All the great musicians I have linked up on Jam of the Week and a big up to KEEN and Choci for provoking me to pick up the style writing pen again. This Mare piece was recently put up by KEEN in London.

"This platform must also continue to engage more in terms of dialogue" "many among you who are at an age where we are all well integrated into the larger picture of life around us, we are no longer a secular group on the fringe or underground, we aspire to greater heights and interests so if we can use this platform to exercise that, lets." These words hit me close to home. I hope you choose to stick around to continue the dialogue. I appreciated the little we got to speak in person. Your input is much needed and appreciated. And the scene needs well rounded mature leaders such as yourself, to keep some of these knucklehead kids levelheaded.

Handselecta said exactly what I was thinking while reading your post. "This platform must also continue to engage more in terms of dialogue, beyond the pictures and videos and just graff, we should encourage more discourse that has substance and maturity in order to enlighten and provoke others to take part on what will ultimately influence many." This whole quote needs to be e-mailed to all the forum members. I appreciate all you've done to motivate and push your work, as well as the culture that your foundation is built on. Good luck with all you do man. I'll keep an eye out for openings.

Carlos Mare 139 Rodriguez is an internationally acclaimed artist/sculptor and pioneer in the art and culture of Hip Hop. Leading his generation into a new world of possibility with style writing sculpture, he pioneered a vision that had, before him, no reference outside of the painted subways of the time. Throughout his career as a sculpter, Mare 139 has consistently brought innovation to the genre’s aesthetic and vocabulary. Mare 139 earned the prestigeous 2006 Webby Award for his launch of the Hip Hop documentary Style Wars website. Style Wars has also garnered the COMMARTS/Communication Arts Award, Horizon Interactive Award, as well as SXSW/South by Southwest Interactive. Not only an award winner but an award designer, Mare 139 designed and created the award for the annual BET/Black Entertainment Award show, which is given annually to entertainers, athletes and actors. Recipients include Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jay Z, Prince Snoop Dog, Beyonce, Kobe Bryant, Usher, Serena Williams and many others. He also designed a G-Unit Award expressly for 50Cent given to him by fashion designer Marc Ecko. Other award projects include the 2005 and 2007 Red Bull Beat Battle Award and more recent the SPY Award for the 30th Anniversary of the Rock Steady Crew. In 2006-07 Mare 139 worked closely with Director/Actor Robert DeNiro on the film The Good Shepherd as a documenter of ‘the making of the movie’ and as member of Mr. DeNiro’s editing team. His writing has been published in Martha Coopers brilliant photo book Street Play that documents the imaginative ‘play’ of children in the streets of NYC in the late 1970’s. His writings capture the creative play and dangers of his youth in the South Bronx.
