Street Play by Martha Cooper/Carlos Mare139 Rodriguez
Excerpt from the book-
‘My wake up call came when, my brother, a group of friends and I were playing in an abandoned
burnt down building. We were stripping metal parts, like copper and lead pipes, for resale, and
stripping the window siding for the chain links to make our nun chucks.
When all of a sudden we heard a loud sound that is hard to describe; it’s painfully hard to describe
a 13-year-old boy falling five stories from a rooftop’.- Mare139
