Lots goin’ on last night. First I headed over to Tompkins Square Park for the start of an Alleycats Bike
Messenger Race. The racers, maybe 50 or so, were given a list of checkpoints complete with boxes to
pick up and drop off. Their great looking messenger bags really caught my eye. I’m definitely planning on
attending more races especially in warmer weather.
Next I caught the L out to Greenpoint where Alphabeta was having a very cool (or should I say hot?) Valentine’s
bash complete with a Kissing Booth and Strippers. There was a huge exhibition with a couple dozen street
artists to celebrate Steven Harrington’s and Jaime Rojo’s new Brooklyn Street Art Book. Aiko had a fresh stencil
up and Ellis G. was fire tagging out in the courtyard—the second time I’d seen this novel technique in three days.
Next Friday we’ll be celebrating my new little book about handmade stickers called Going Postal with some of the
same artists but no strippers. Here’s the flier. Hope to see you at Ad Hoc for that!
