Martha Diaz of Hip-Hop Association H2A suggested an unusual girls’ night out at S.O.B.‘s, where
the first Thursday of every month, DJ Rekna, “the ambassador of Banghra” holds a dance party.
Bhangra turned out to be a lively form of Punjabi music and dance and last night was the 12th
anniversary of Rekna’s monthly event. After a couple of mojitos and caparinhas and some welcome
dance lessons, we were ready to groove in style to the pulsing Bhangra beat along with a very
enthusiastic international crowd.
