Henry Chalfant, Jon Naar, Regina Stewart and I met for lunch today in Soho to reminisce
about our adventures in graffiti publishing past and to show off our new books. We’re so
happy that Jack’s historic dissertation is finally published (Graffiti Kings, Abrams) but sad
that Jack isn’t here to see it.

Jack Stewart, 2002.

Great books by great photographers/artists. Is graffiti kings the whole dissertation, or a new edit of it. Didn't know Jack had passed, met him on the bus leaving the symposium at the museum of the city of New York after Martin Wong donated his collection. The new subway art looks great. I found a copy at a used books store I go to, probally a review copy. Was surprised that some photos from the old book made the new book, and some didn't. It looks great. The station shot at 96 street is cool, where I saw more burners on the way to school than anywhere else. Lots of wholecar burners, no bubble throws.
