Os Gemeos on Houston Street

Os Gemeos and friends have arrived from Sao Paulo, courtesy of Deitch Projects, to paint a mural on
the historic Houston Street wall most recently the site of the 50th anniversary Keith Haring re-creation.
Apparently the Haring Foundation asked that the wall be repainted. Passers-by from the neighborhood
expressed regret to see it go but were happy to hear that there will be a worthy replacement.

Keith originally painted his mural illegally in July of 1982 at a time when the Lower Eastside was full of
vacant lots and boarded up buildings. Now Whole Foods is across the street along with luxury condos.
Today the twins were still waiting for a paint shipment. Serious painting commences tomorrow.
