This evening head down to Klughaus Gallery for the opening reception of Keys to the City, the New York debut of one of our favorite artists Jurne. In recent years the San Francisco based artist has distinguished himself as one of the most innovative and influential graffiti writers today with a style that is a nostalgic throwback to the 90s and a creativity and technical ability that is mind boggling. In his studio practice he has utilized that same precise hand to create drawings and cut paper works, images composed of meticulously written words.
For Keys to the City Jurne has created abstract geometric compositions on found vellum maps of Paris. Check out the awesome trailer for the show above shot by Lea Bruno, and scroll down to get a first look at some of the works in the exhibition opening tonight.
Due to recent events, Klughaus Gallery will be donating part of the proceeds from this show to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief. Klughaus Gallery is located at 47 Monroe St. in Lower Manhattan. The opening reception for Keys to the City is tonight, Saturday, November 10, from 6-10pm. The exhibition with be on view through December 1st, 2012.
