Talib Kweli Packs Out Brooklyn Bowl with Live Band

The Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli returned to his hometown this past week, performing at a packed Brooklyn Bowl. DJ Jasmine Solano warmed up the crowd with a dope set of 90’s hip hop, prepping us for one of the best to do it during rap’s golden age. Talib rocked out with a live band to crowd favorites including “Definition”, “K.O.S”, “Get ‘Em High”, and “Move Something”. Showing his appreciation for all things music, he goes from “Lonely People” (a sample off The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby”) to his remix of Tyga’s “Rack City”.

Talib brought out Rubix and Skyzoo to perform their respective collabs, and ended with the head-nodder, “Get By”. The crowd wasn’t done yet, and the band chanted Talib’s name with the audience until he returned for an encore. Talib dropped “Push Thru”, his joint with Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y off his upcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious, and finished his set with “I Try”. Prisoner of Conscious is expected to release November 2012.
