I met Nelson (Cekis) in 2005 when the twins came to town for their show in the Deitch, he is a close friend with them and we talk for hours about art, graff and Chile, where he is from, Im always surprise of how many talented people live in NY and so far all of them are really nice people, Nelson is one of them, his work is really amazing and true to his south american heritage, it has that vibe of the mexican muralists with some graff influence…

Im pretty sure we will hear more about him soon…

Back when i was fifteen i remember going to watch this artsy movie with my friends, i was lucky enough to be able to watch it on the big screen, to me there are few movies that growing up become part of your life, LA HAINE is one of those films…with a heavy inspiration from Spike lee Mathieu Kassovitz is been able to bring you a social comment on the france of the riots from the 90s.

Last weekend i got the opportunity to check out the show of Emory Douglas at the new museum, for those who doesn’t know about Douglas work, he was the one in charge of the image behind the Black Panther Party from their newspapers, posters and pamphlets…definitely one of my favorite illustrator/ graphic designer.
