After more than six months of planning, a major art project is underway at Emerald House in South Melbourne AUSTRALIA. Covering more than 800 square meters of space, the project will become Australia’s largest exhibition of graffiti art, painted directly onto the walls of the buildings car park by some of the world’s most renowned artists.

Around 90 artists will contribute to the exhibition, with many hailing from Australia as well as some from as far away as New York, Paris and Amsterdam. The likes of Phibs, Ces, Sirum1 and Vans are among those to spray and stencil their way into Australian graffiti art history.

Throughout the duration of the project, workshops are being run for young people from Melbourne, to help build their self-esteem and confidence, and show how their talents can be used in a legal and productive way.

Joseph William “Joe” Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011), also known as Smokin’ Joe, was an Olympic and Undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion, whose professional career lasted from 1965 to 1976, with a one-fight comeback in 1981.Frazier’s last world title challenge came in 1975, but he was beaten by Ali in their brutal rubbermatch. He retired in 1976 following a second loss to Foreman. He made a comeback in 1981, fighting just once, before retiring for good. The International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) rates Frazier among the ten greatest heavyweights of all time.  Frazier’s style was often compared to that of Henry Armstrong and occasionally Rocky Marciano. He was dependent on bobbing, weaving, grunting, snorting as he grimaced with all out aggression wearing down his opponents with relentless pressure. His best known punch was a powerful left hook, which accounted for most of his knockouts.
He is an inductee of both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospice care. He died November 7, 2011.

This is the second memorial for Bernie “Oil” Perez on 19th and N.Miami Ave. right on the edge of the design district in Overtown. Bernie was Miami’s hidden treasure, & is kept alive by his friends & crew, on the streets, railroad, & in spirit.  We here at ‘TUFFCITY’ had the pleaseure to know & hang out wit “Oiler”  when last he visited NY. A very likeable and cool Brotha to say the least. “Oil” will always be missed.  This is for you & all of your family & friends.  ‘OILER’ RIP!!!
