Those old decks! That’s about when concave first arrived.
Chicity, that is not an alley, nor did we sell boards out of an alley, or that broke-ass shop, “The Alley”. That was shot on a rooftop outside the window of my homie, who shot the photo. 123 N. Jefferson street, Chicago’s west loop.
DranxO, oh to be young and not born when boards were “different”. Concave came about 8-9yrs. before this photo was taken. Check your history, the first real concave board was made by “Z-Flex” they released a wood board called the “Z-Winger” shortly after that the rest followed. Variflex was at one time the top manufacturer. They had great concave, and a great team, including Lance Mountain. I saw them skate a demo at my home park in Michigan. I have ridden every type of skateboard made since the beginning of skateboarding. I own one of every example of every style ever manufactured. Hold on to your goodies, kids.
Good info, Stevie Dread. Thanks old timer.
