Definitely a color that must stick out. It’s amazing how all the colors can be categorized as red, but at the same time they can be seen as different shades of red based on the texture of the object, the way the light hits it, etc.

Yuri Shibuya was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1976. Since graduating from the Musashino Art University in 1998, she has been traveling and taking pictures in many countries from South East Asia to South America. Since 1996 She has been documenting skateboard culture in NYC. After each trip, she makes a ‘zine (photo copy book) about her journey. Since 2003 her work has been supported by ART BY XEROX. Her ‘zines are sold in Printed Matter and Dashwood Books in New York City. Yuri’s work has appeared on the pages of Paper Sky, Relax, Tokion, Transworld Skateboarding, Warp Japan, Dune, Untitled, Adrenalin,
Lodown, Hamburger Eyes, and The New York Times.

Yuri is currently working on her first hardcover book which is being released in Fall 2007 with AKA Projects.
