A lot can be said about Mare 139. We could talk about his metal sculptures, ‘Street Play‘ by Martha Cooper and of course his part of the New York graffiti kingdom, but we choose to hold on to the memory of ‘Style Wars‘, where he had to repeat his name at the writer’s bench, spelling it. He seemed a little uncomfortable with the situation, not realizing at that time his name would be forever engraved in our lives.
Now we are lucky to have his limited edition based on this mythical image of the writer, captured by Martha Cooper.
In the pedigree of our culture, Part One and TDS have their own branch. Their pieces covered continuously the lines 1, 2 and 5 during the last years of the late 70’s and early 80’s in New York. Part One, a champion of wildstyle, has shown and proved his mastery under several names: Roam, Rio, Fudge 357, 2worm, Wepa, Ultra2, Rique…
This time, one of his mythical pieces decorates one of our limited editions.
Very few legends are still here to tell their story and make it stay alive to prevent it from fading away. In graffiti this might be said about Sento (TFP, DAMAGE INC), a unique writer whos personal style of letters has inspired writers all over the globe. The king of swing couldnt have been left out of our collection of limited editions. It wouldnt have been complete.

Thanks to the Milestone Festival, we have had the opportunity to contact a person who has made drawing a part of her everyday life. Erica Il Cane, gives us a glimpse of her humanity and “animalism” in these words.

We always move around trying to get first hand from the protagonists a piece of their story. In this case, Smole, a prolific writer and a reference on the French graffiti scene who became known within the disappeared group C4 and currently an active member of FTW, TF1 and BSB, received us in his hometown Montpellier and shared these lines with us.

Shaking minds and provoking smiles seems to be priory goals for this writer. In Lush’ new video he continues to throw salt in wounds, emphasizing the least politicly correct parts of graffiti.
His sense of irony leaves a breath of fresh air and self-criticism. Enjoy the beef!

Herokid, in collaboration with MTN-World, is pleased to present the fifth and final chapter of the saga Concrete Walls Project this time with catalan (from Barcelona) writer SAWE *.
Sometimes the stars align and combine images that shock the viewer’s retina. Sometimes that happens and when it does, all you can do is sit, contemplate and enjoy.
It happened to us with this video. We hope that it also conquers you and puts a smile on your face.
* Born In Barcelona, this Catalan writer studied illustration and carries on working in this field. Since 2001, when he picked up his first rattle can, he has yet to cease proliferating. Through investigations in plastic arts, a new world has opened up to his work and without forgetting the truest roots of graffiti, he melds the two like alchemy. Composition emerges from his imagination often after spending countless hours standing between a blank wall and his own subconscious. 1950’s era American comics, publicity mascots, or aleatory mutations began as simple influences and have grown into the pillars of his repertoire.
As a sampler, Sawe absorbes, transformes, adaptes and always surprises.

‘If a writer knows enough about what he is writing about, he may omit things that he knows. The dignity of movement of an iceberg is due to only one ninth of it being above water’. Ernest Hemingway

As you know, one of our collaborators, Abalon, has been spending some time recently in New York and Miami. From the ‘city of bass’, she brings us this photographic report done during her wanderings through the Wynwood district which is, as you know, a mecca for alternative art and the setting for the macro-event ‘Art in the Streets’. And from the city that never sleeps she brings us an article of the Oblvn expo in the Klughaus gallery. And here’s her interview with SKI, member of UR NYC (along with 2ESAE), where he tell us about his relationship with New York and his link to the graffiti scene.
