12oz Sketch of the Day: Matthew Zaremba

By - Wednesday, June 4th, 2014

Boston based artist, Matthew Zaremba started exploring pen and ink a few years ago. Commenting on his style, he says it began with simple pyramids which in some cultures are ancient symbols of mountains reaching towards heaven. The work he began creating was all very relevant to what was happening in his life at the time.
I grew up painting graffiti and it has always been a huge influence on me. I don’t paint as much as I’d like to anymore but it’s always fun when I get a chance to. There’s nothing quite like that urge, energy, and reckless abandon.
I think taking some of the noise in my head so to speak, and turning it into something tangible helped me organize it all in order to attempt to understand it. Although the subject of my work changes, the idea behind it all remains the same. It’s all really just commentary on the human condition… illustrated.

Trifecta Editions recently held their event, Trifecta: Year One featuring Matt’s work. Prints are still available here.
