12ozProphet Exclusive: Go Skateboarding Day 2015 with El Señor New York Founder Spencer Fujimoto
This past Sunday, 12ozProphet spent Go Skateboarding Day cruising around downtown Manhattan, handing out stickers to the masses. The day consists of several city-wide skateboarding events, contests and rides the found skaters of all types and ages taking to the streets. This year GSD kicked off in 3 boroughs, in Queens at the Astoria skatepark, in the Bronx at River Ave skatepark and in Manhattan at the LES skatepark. In the afternoon skaters from across NYC made their way downtown to the LES skatepark for a massive meet-up with contests and giveaways. Following the LES skate-storm, skaters rolled over to Brooklyn via the Williamsburg bridge to conclude Go Skateboarding Day at 50 Kent.
While on the Lower East Side, the 12oz crew met up with El Señor New York, skateboarding’s first and only jewelry brand, to catch our breath and check out some of the ESNY product on display. If you haven’t seen what these guys are up to, it’s time to get hip. While we were there, founder Spencer Fujimoto and crew were posted up, handing out water to ground-stoping skaters, and we got to ask Spencer a few questions about graffiti, ESNY and the inspiration behind the pieces. Check out the video above to see what Go Skateboarding Day in New York City is all about.
