12ozProphet Seeks Editorial Interns

12ozProphet is currently seeking dedicated and ambitious Editorial Interns who are ready to help source and shape the news and info that defines our culture. We are looking to bring on local and remote 12ozProphet contributors. Whether you’re the most experienced writer or just someone who loves trolling the internet for the latest news you should hit us up. Our goal is to build a solid, diverse editorial team of the most knowledgeable, experienced, and ambitious contributors possible.

INTERNSHIP TYPES

Local:
We are seeking local interns who can commit to working out of our SoHo studio 3 days a week for a 3 month period. In addition to looking for contributors passionate about graffiti and street art we are particularly interested in finding interns with an expertise in the fields of Music, Skate, Fine Art, Design, Sports, Tech, and Gaming to help us continue to broaden our editorial content. If you know more about one of those fields than anyone else around then we want you to join the 12oz team to cover the latest breaking news and be a wealth of knowledge for our readers to tap into. Interns will be introduced to digital publishing, opportunity to build and flex writing skills, as well as have each post reach a broad audience of thousands of readers.

Remote:
If you are not based in New York but you know your city better than anyone else around then we want you to help 12ozProphet cover your local scene. We are looking for writers and photographers who can photograph and write about anything going on that’s front page worthy from art openings, to jams, concerts, store openings, and interviews with some of the local talent. Help be our eyes and ears on the street and give your city some shine.
 
AREAS OF FOCUS

Qualities:

⁃Passionate and knowledgeable about graffiti culture, street art, music, skate and other forms of popular culture

⁃Interest and experience in writing. A strong grasp of the English language and proper grammar while maintaining a casual tone.
-Interest in further developing your writing skills and unique written ‘voice’


Responsibilities:

⁃Researching, writing and collaborating with other Editorial staff in all activities leading to publication

⁃Organizing and further researching subjects and editorial projects to produce quality, error-free news content

⁃Cooperate with brands internationally and locally to gather products

⁃Using your own personal knowledge and experience to contribute ideas

⁃Proficiency with HTML and / or SEO is a plus


Requirements:

⁃High School Graduate

⁃Strong grammar, punctuation and writing skills

⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skills to collaborate successfully in a team environment

⁃Personal computer with word processing software (MS Word or equivalent)

⁃Physically located in New York City or other major metropolitan city a plus, but not required

⁃Proof read and refine contributed copy and prepare for publishing

⁃Assist in cultivating and growing the unique voice and editorial skill set of other Editorial team members

⁃Sometimes assist in researching, writing and collaborating with other Editorial staff in all activities leading to publication

⁃Organizing and further researching subjects and Editorial projects to produce quality, error-free news content

Requirements:

⁃High School Graduate + 2 years college, preferably majoring in Journalism, English, Literature or similar

⁃Strong grammar, punctuation and writing skills

⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skills to collaborate successfully in a team environment

⁃Personal computer with word processing software (MS Word or equivalent)

⁃Living in or around New York City or other major metropolitan city a plus, but not required
