Abstractions Group Show Opening Tonight at Opera Gallery

By - Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

{image-1} In the Abstractions show opening tonight at Opera Gallery, a distinct effort is being made to recontextualize works by artists most often associated with graffiti and street art by hanging them alongside paintings by Modern masters. Paintings by Futura, Daze, Rostarr, Saber, Bast, and Ron English hang alongside works by Joan Miro, Lucio Fontana, and Sam Francis. The later group, artists which no Modern museum collection would be complete without. It is Opera Gallery’s hope that the luster (and name value) of these Modern works will reflect onto their contemporary roster of artists. Go tonight and see for yourself. The opening reception for Abstractions is tonight 6-9pm at Opera Gallery located at 115 Spring Street in SoHo. Log on to www.operagallery.com/ny for a preview of the works in the show.
