ALIFE Sessions: Drake NWTS from Mosaic New York on Vimeo.

September 24th 2013 marked the release of Aubrey “Drizzy ” Drake‘s third album “Nothing Was The Same“. Put together within two days, the private performance was held at the infamous Alife backyard in New York City’s Lower East Side, hosted by The City Of Gods. DJ Two Three ran through classic Drake hits mixing in current standouts from the NWTS album while the crowd sipped Heinekens eagerly awaiting the performer’s arrival. The backyard was filled with tastemakers, artists, friends and fans including Raekwon, Travis Scott, ASAP Mob, Ma$e, Theophilus London and French Montana. After a long evening of autograph signing at Best Buy, Drake arrived close to 1am where he immediately turned the Alife Backyard into his playground. Jumping onto the wood roof high above the frenzied crowd performing radio hits like “Versace”, “Started from the bottom” and “All me”. Then came a high energy interlude by Travis Scott who rapped his verse on “Upper Echelon” before Drizzy moved into newer material like “Worst Behavior” and “The Language“. Right as word came in that the NYPD were shutting the show down, Drake got into “Wu-tang Forever” donning a vintage Wu Jersey, he brought out the living legend Raekwon, who performed the Wu’s first hit single ”C.R.E.A.M.” The crowd rapped along to every word as The Chef bodied the classic verse. Drake gave a very humble speech concluding the event and showing his true admiration for the culture and music. Shortly after, the backyard was quickly cleared, leaving behind blunt wraps, beer bottles and an event that won’t be rivaled anytime soon. – words by Dice The God Director – Eric Cruz Producer – Dice The God Camera – W.
