Are Roll Downs Finished?

By - Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

{image-1} New legislation has passed, since July 1st, banning solid roll down gates for storefronts, but in the distant future. Councilman Peter Vallone has pushed forward this act which means business owners must provide 70% visibility to their store. But both owners and writers have until 2026 till the roll downs are totally phased out. The City’s anti-graffiti spokesman believes this will end up having a major impact in the fight against graffiti, which small business owners have to pay for. But with 15 years of roll down love, we expect more art on these metal walls than ever before.
