Barry McGee + Amaze at Miami Art Basel

By - Thursday, December 9th, 2010

{image-1} Nothing like a silver and black Amaze throwie to spruce up the stark walls of a gigantic warehouse. Barry McGee aka Twist and crew transformed the storage space’s blank facade with a larger-than-life Amaze throw-up in Wynwood during this years Art Basel. Jeffrey Deitch & Goldman Properties gave McGee the green light for the sprawling piece as a follow up to last years effort. For Art Basel 2009, the trio debuted a meticulous orange and green geometric pattern that spanned an entire building. However, the facade has since been mysteriously destroyed by a can of black paint and a fat cap, and the Wynwood Walls project now awaits its final destiny as becoming part of a new coffee shop.
