Cekis Studio Visit - Alan Ket Shares the Latest Works from the Chilean-Born Artist

Cekis is one of Chile’s best writers and a member of its old school who happens to live and work in New York for many years. I first met him in the 90s when I was publishing Stress. Back then he was a tourist and made a trip to New York and caught up with me at the Black August concert I was working. He was humble for an artist with so much talent and years under his belt and was generous enough to send me a drawing later that ran in the pages of the magazine. Years later I really got to meet the man and become familiar with his art and technique. In the past few years I have witnessed his amazing murals, pieces, and his transition into making works on canvas. This summer we caught up and I was able to photograph some new works with a theme of migration/immigration. I was very moved and am happy to share images I captured of his studio and of his art with you.
And a mural on Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn…
