Virginia-born pop music sensation Chris Brown rocked an iconic Polo piece during a performance on The Today Show early this morning. The 1992 Snow Beach pullover was made famous by Wu Tang’s Raekwon in the “Can It Be All So Simple” video, which dealt with with the hardships of growing up in 1980’s NYC, and how living a glorified mafioso lifestyle was an escape from this. Nowadays we are accustomed to seeing rappers like Meyhem Lauren draped in ‘Lo from head to toe, a definite intentional reference to a by-gone era. But can Chris Brown pull off rocking such a statement piece from a movement that started a year before his birth?
Below is a photo by Tom Gould of Raekwon rocking his iconic Polo Snow Beach in the cuts with a figurine by the man behind the 12ozProphet stack logo, Grotesk.
