Call For Submissions: City of Dallas Seeks Local Artist To Paint Mural with $50k Budget
Following in the footsteps of Shepard Fairey’s public mural project that was commissioned by the Dallas Contemporary in February, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program is now requesting submissions from local artists to paint a highly visible wall in the city’s Oak Cliff neighborhood.
This large scale mural installation will ultimately span six walls, four retaining and two end cap walls. A $50k budget meant to cover artist fees, materials and necessary permits will be awarded to the yet to be determined artist who will be responsible for selecting his/her own team and also legitimizing the project with the appropriate paperwork and neighborhood feedback.
Submissions should include a cover letter summarizing the artists experience in painting murals, how she/he intends to incorporate the locality and also 6 images of past murals the artist has completed of a similar projected scale. The cut-off for submissions is April 20th at 5pm Texas time; qualifying proposals will be reviewed in May by a selection of Artists and members of the community.
Email Submissions can be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org, for questions contact Kendall Ferguson 214.670.5639 or email email@example.com.
