Custom New York Inspired Spray Can “Canthora” by Antio of Greece

By - Monday, February 23rd, 2015

Greece-based group, Antio, has created an intercultural accessory for street artists. The custom can, titled “Canthora,” is inspired by New York City’s coffee cup design. For those New York inhabitants, or those who have visited and gotten a hot cup of coffee from a street vendor on a gritty, grey morning, this design is well known.

The design was created by Leslie Buck in 1963 with the intention of eliciting the business of Greek-owned coffee shops. The design’s title is just as clever as the marketing. “Anthora” is a play on the word “amphora,” which refers to an ancient Greek or Roman jar (the thin-necked, two-handle variety that you’d find at the Metropolitan Museum of Art).

This package, including the custom spray can holder (contents are not under pressure) is available for $18 USD on Antio’s webshop.

You can visit Antio’s website here, and shop the spray can holder here.
