Damien Hirst’s “Spin AK47 for Peace Day”

On October 4th, Damien’s assault rifle will be on auctioned off at the Howick Place in London, as part of an exhibition/auction that brings together English artists that also interpreted the AK47 rifle; that was started by Mikhail Kalashnikov during World War 2. Damien’s work is in collaboration with the global organization Peace One Day, a project that increases awareness about Peace Day as well as raise money for the organization. Other artists curating their own interpretations of the weapon are Charming Baker, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Mat Collishaw, Jeremy Deller, Nancy Fouts, Ryan Gander, Douglas Gordon, Antony Gormley, Gary Hume, Jim Lambie, Langlands & Bell, Sarah Lucas, Antony Micallef, Harland Miller, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Marc Quinn, Stuart Semple, Laila Shawa, Bran Symondson, SamTaylor-Wood, Gavin Turk and Rebecca Warren.
