Digable Planets' Cee Knowledge and Cosmic Funk Orchestra Play at Brooklyn Bowl

By - Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

12oz trooped out to hipster city last night, with high hopes for a much-anticipated Digable Planets reunion show. When most opening acts are fluffers for the show headliner, it was refreshing to watch F. Stokes perform. Chicago born and now a Harlem transplant, Stokes got Brooklyn Bowl going with “Powder Eggs” and “Jo Jo Dancer”. He spent most of his time off-stage, rapping with fans in the crowd. Unfortunately, the Digable Planets reunion did not come to fruition. Only Cee Knowledge (formerly Doodlebug) took the stage with his band, the Cosmic Funk Orchestra. Good times were still to be had, as attendees kicked it to the funky sounds of CFO. Shout out to the rowdy group in the middle of the dance floor, who was giving their friend a proper send-off overseas. Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way. Text & Photo: Steven Lau
