Diplomats Close Out Red Bull Tour At Best Buy Theater

By - Monday, October 3rd, 2011

The Diplomats reunited this past Friday in Times Square’s Best Buy Theatre for the last leg of Red Bull Music Academy’s “Five Out of Five” Tour. 12oz Prophet was onstage as Cam’Ron, Jim Jones, and Juelz Santana dropped hits off 2003’s Diplomatic Immunity. Jones brought out surprise guest (and fellow Harlemnite) ASAP Rocky who performed “Peso” before jumping into the smoke-filled crowd and moshing with fans. CAPO, Juelz, and Killa went through their solo hits, soon followed by Vado (fittingly dipped in ‘Lo) who hit the stage with Cam for “Speakin’ in Tongues”. Dip CEO Freekey Zekey didn’t disappoint either, flexing his muscles as he “danced” shirtless for the roaring crowd. The night ended with the Harlem rap group belting out the classics, most notably “Dipset Anthem” and “I Really Mean It”. In true Diplomatic fashion, the Set disregarded requests to close up shop as they went past their allotted time. Respect the movement, Dipset. Text and Photo by Steven Lau
