We are always on the lookout for strong additions to our team. 12ozProphet is currently seeking interns and volunteers that have diverse interests and experience levels. Whether you’re the most experienced writer or just someone who loves trolling the internet for the latest news you should hit us up.

Research Staff

Qualities:

⁃Passionate and knowledgeable about graffiti culture, street art, music, skate and other forms of popular culture
⁃An obsessive compulsive approach to managing browser bookmarks, following blogs and reading RSS feeds

Responsibilities:

⁃Gather, organize and research relevant articles, features, interviews, product launches, etc and prioritize based on deadlines, relevance and exclusivity
⁃Maintain an active positive presence on the 12ozProphet Forum and report leads and trends
⁃Deliver leads and supporting info, images and other related assets to the Editorial team
⁃Use your own personal knowledge and experience to contribute ideas

Requirements:

⁃Obvious passion and enough experience and / or knowledge in a specific subject(s) to be able to filter and prioritize submitted leads based on quality, relevance and exclusivity
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skills to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Enough personal time and motivation to stay on top of late breaking stories
⁃Personal computer

Copy Writer

Qualities:

⁃Passionate and knowledgeable about graffiti culture, street art, music, skate and other forms of popular culture
⁃Interest and experience in writing. A strong grasp of the English language and proper grammar while maintaining a casual tone. Interest in further developing your writing skills and unique written ‘voice’

Responsibilities:

⁃Researching, writing and collaborating with other Editorial staff in all activities leading to publication
⁃Organizing and further researching subjects and editorial projects to produce quality, error-free news content
⁃Cooperate with brands internationally and locally to gather products
⁃Using your own personal knowledge and experience to contribute ideas
⁃Proficiency with HTML and / or SEO is a plus

Requirements:

⁃High School Graduate
⁃Strong grammar, punctuation and writing skills
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skills to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Personal computer with word processing software (MS Word or equivalent)
⁃Physically located in New York City or other major metropolitan city a plus, but not required

⁃Maturity and a natural sense of leadership, organization skills and a desire to help others
⁃Meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

⁃Proof read and refine contributed copy and prepare for publishing
⁃Assist in cultivating and growing the unique voice and editorial skill set of other Editorial team members
⁃Sometimes assist in researching, writing and collaborating with other Editorial staff in all activities leading to publication
⁃Organizing and further researching subjects and Editorial projects to produce quality, error-free news content

Requirements:

⁃High School Graduate + 2 years college, preferably majoring in Journalism, English, Literature or similar
⁃Strong grammar, punctuation and writing skills
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skills to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Personal computer with word processing software (MS Word or equivalent)
⁃Living in or around New York City or other major metropolitan city a plus, but not required

Responsibilities:

⁃Collaborate with the Editorial team to photograph local events and culture
⁃Assist in the planning and execution of photo shoots

Requirements:

⁃Digital SLR Camera
⁃Personal computer with photo editing software
⁃Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skill to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Living in or around New York City or other major metropolitan city (Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, London, Paris, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, etc) required

⁃Solid videography and video editing skills and a desire to refine them further.

Responsibilities:

⁃Collaborate with the Editorial team to to build out video coverage of local events and culture
⁃Assist in the planning and execution of video shoots

Requirements:

⁃Canon 7D, Canon 5D or other quality HD video camera
⁃Personal computer with video editing software
⁃Familiarity with Final Cut Pro and / or Adobe Premier
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skill to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Living in or around New York City or other major metropolitan city (Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, London, Paris, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, etc) required

⁃Exceedingly social and natural tendency to connect people, places and opportunities

Responsibilities:

⁃Assist in maintaining, refining and growing 12ozProphet’s online presence and social media footprint
⁃Maintain an active positive presence on the 12ozProphet Forum, liaise and help further engage our online community
⁃Coordinate with the Editorial team to amplify and promote posted news content via 12ozProphet’s social network accounts
⁃Collaborate with the Editorial team to create and distribute Press Releases and materials
⁃Help identify and develop strategies, schedules and growth opportunities
⁃Track, report and archive media coverage and mentions
⁃Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports

Requirements:

⁃High School Graduate + 2 years college, preferably majoring in Marketing, Communications or similar
⁃Personal computer
⁃Strong proficiency with ins and outs of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
⁃Highly organized, detail oriented and enough social skill to collaborate successfully in a team environment
⁃Proficiency with HTML and / or SEO is a plus
⁃Living in or around New York City or other major metropolitan city a plus, but not required

Web Development & SEO

⁃A thorough familiarity with 12ozprophet.com, the content and online community
⁃Capacity for long, uninterrupted hours of being hyper focused on computer code

Responsibilities:

⁃Assist in identifying UI and technical issues
⁃Suggest design and development strategies, technologies, and related opportunities that can be leveraged or implemented to further improve stability, efficiency and overall user experience on 12ozprophet.com
⁃Assist in creating, and later maintaining, a development roadmap

Requirements:

⁃Highly organized and detail oriented
⁃Personal computer with professional text editor (BBEdit, Text Wrangler, Sublime, etc)
⁃Strong proficiency with HTML5, CSS3
⁃Ideal candidate would also have a strong proficiency in PHP and MySQL
⁃Proficiency with Javascript, jQuery and AJAX is a big bonus
⁃A working knowledge of GIT (distributed versioning control) & Beanstalk is a big bonus
⁃System Administration experience in LAMP setups is a huge bonus
