Recap: Revok "Ordinary Things"

By - Sunday, November 4th, 2012

With his first solo show in Detroit after recently moving to the Motor City and spear heading the Detroit Beautification Project, California-native REVOK MSK AWR. “Ordinary Things” at the Library Street Colletive offers just that, ordinary objects found throughout the city’s decaying landscape, liquor store signs, street barricades, all chopped up and arranged in extraordinary way. Some pieces are left with in all their gritty grandeur, while others are painted before being assembled, the entire process symbolic of the recent artistic renaissance the city has seen. In addition to REVOK’s assembled collages, the show also featured photographs of street murals, some are traditional, folk hand-painted signs, and others are of a less legal variety. Work by fellow MSK member “RIME” also made an appearance. “Ordinary Things” will run at the Library Street Collective from now until Janurary 26th 2013. Photos VIA Mega LaCroix
