Faust Showpaper Box Spotted at PS1

By - Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

While 12oz was on the scene at the NY Art Book Fair at PS1 over the weekend we spotted this sick newspaper box painted by Faust. On Martha Cooper’s 12oz blog she described Faust as “a prolific practitioner of elegantly executed handstyles on stickers stuck on nearly every newspaper box in town for the past ten years.” We’ve grown accustomed to seeing his name on boxes, but never one completely designed by the allusive artist. We reached out to Faust who declined to comment but passed on the images below. Apparently, it’s part of Showpaper’s second round of artist designed newspaper boxes which should be hitting the streets soon. You may remember the first go-around a year ago which included a box painted by the reclusive bomber Cost, which shortly after being placed Downtown was abducted, held for ransom on Ebay, and ultimately ended up in the Art in the Streets exhibition in LA MoCA.
