By - Monday, December 16th, 2013

Finok recently opened his solo show,

Despacho (“Order”) in his home town of Sao Paolo, creating 17 original pieces executed as both installation, canvases and varying surfaces such as wood, fabric and other objects that intrigue. All pieces are envisioned in his Brazilian palette and reference both his graffiti roots and the characters he has imagined over time. Despacho explores rituals, beliefs and the traditional within African-Brazilian faith, examining popular culture and modern world values. Translating his daily life in Sao Paulo, the landscape, churches, bars, homes and street have inspired in a playful body of work accompanied by a site specific installation, a traditional Brazilian bar (Boteco) that compliments the pieces within the exhibition. The show is on view through December 21st at the Smith Galleria in Brazil.
