First Look: Wynwood Walls Pop-Up Shop

By - Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Sandwiched between Joey’s Italian Cafe and Wynwood Kitchen and Bar is a portal into the evolution of street art. What was once scribbles illegally spray-painted on the sides of buildings, trash bins, and newspaper racks is now fine, museum-quality art displayed proudly on the Wynwood Walls. And for the first time ever, works by Wynwood Walls artists will finally be available for purchase at the Shop the Walls pop up shop, which runs through December 4. While we’d all love to drop serious coin on original, contemporary art during Basel, limited edition t-shirt and prints are much more affordable. And Shop the Walls will offer plenty of those. Also available at the pop up show is the new Wynwood Walls book, featuring photographs by Martha Cooper and artist interviews. Shop the Walls. Tuesday, November 29 through Sunday, December 4, Wynwood Walls (2nd Ave between 25th and 26th St, Miami). Visit www.thewynwoodwalls.com. Source: Miami New Times
