From Singapore to Queens: Sheryo Hits 5 Pointz

Originally hailing from Singapore, globe trotting artist Sheryo has recently made New York City her home. After spending the last four months spray painting her way through countries such as South Korea and Cambodia, the artist decided to settle down in NYC for a while. Upon landing in the U.S., Sheryo wasted no time in hitting one of the city’s graffiti meccas: 5 Pointz. Meres picked up the artist in his car and circled the building several times before deciding on the right spot. Due to the filming of Michael Bay’s new movie, the art on one side of the building cannot change, making spaces limited.
Before: Shiro
On the front of 5 Pointz, Shiro had a piece that had been sitting for several months and was slowly flaking off of the wall. Since the artist had a more recent work on an adjacent wall, Meres gave Sheryo this prime location. Visible to both the traffic leading to MoMA PS1 as well as the 7 train, this location will allow for wide exposure to the recent transplant. This location coupled with the artist’s unique style establish her as one to watch as the scene heats up for the summer.
