G-Shock's 30th Anniversary Event in NYC with Surprise Performance by Eminem
Casio’s G-Shock 30th Anniversary “Shock The World” celebration last week at New York City’s Manhattan Center was definitely a night to remember. Upon entering, event goers were met with an impressive wall display of the full 30 year retrospective of Casio’s G-Shock watches. G-Shock inventors and watch designers and engineers were in the house explaining the tried and true technology, durability and design collaborations of the G-Shock wrist watch. G-Shock has become a staple on the street across the glove, collaborating with an impressive variety of artist, musicians and athletes, including Stevie Williams, Nigel Sylvester, Joel Centeio, Dee & Ricky, and Eric Haze who designed a special collection honoring the brands 3 decades in the game. A variety of the soon to be released collaborations were on display throughout the event with really intricate exhibits displaying the watch designs.
Casio, living up to the over the top celebration they had for their 25th anniversary, didn’t miss a beat for their 30th anniversary party. No doubt the highlight of the evening was a surprise performance by Eminem after an opening set from his Shady Records fam Slaughterhouse. Despite requiring all photographers to check their cameras upon entry, once Em hit the stage everyone in the packed audience took out their iPhone cameras in anticipation. Eminem came correct performing recent hits “Not Afraid,” “Love The way You Lie” and “I Need a Doctor” in addition to classics like “My Name Is” and “The Way I Am” as everyone in the crowd seemingly sang along. We will defenitly be looking forward to seeing what G-Shock has up their sleeve for there 35th year anniversary…
