Gaming: Nintendo Will Not Have a Keynote at E3
Nintendo announced yesterday that they will be choosing a different method than past years to showcase their products to the media at this June’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Ever since I could remember, Nintendo has joined Sony and Microsoft in holding a separate keynote address, but this year they are opting out. CEO of Nintendo America, Satoru Iwata cited the Nintendo Direct presentations as a successful tool in distributing information to the public. They will continue to bring news to the public continually using Nintendo Direct streams.
At the expo, there will be an event for distributors and a hands-on opportunity for media with Nintendo products, but the traditional stage presentation has been deemed unnecessary. The focus of Nintendo’s E3 showing will be Wii U software and not hardware. Furthermore, Iwata stated that he will not be speaking, it was unclear whether he is planning to be in attendance.
